Worcestershire Regulatory Services are responsible for enforcing the law relating to Health and Safety at Work in a wide range of businesses and helping employers and their employees to ensure they are aware of their obligations and how to comply with them.
Inspecting work places to ensure they are safe for employees, customers and visitors and that employers are complying with the law; Investigating complaints about unsafe workplaces; Investigating accidents and dangerous occurrences that have occurred in a workplace; Providing sensible and proportionate advice and information to businesses, employees and members of the public; Promoting health and safety awareness and knowledge through projects and campaigns; Working in partnership with the Health and Safety Executive and other organisations; Supporting organisations to make good business decisions including where possible, reducing the burden of regulation on them.
The enforcement of health and safety law is split between the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and Local Authorities.
Warehouses storing goods for wholesale or retail; Wholesale and retail shops, including tyre and exhaust fitting establishments; The display and sale of goods at exhibitions; Catering establishments, including restaurants, pubs, clubs and cafes; Office activities; Consumer services in shops such as shoe repairers;Hotels, guest houses, bed and breakfast accommodation, camp sites and caravan sites; Health clubs and leisure services, theatres, cinemas, etc; Therapeutic and cosmetic treatments, including tattooists, acupuncturists, solaria, etc; Child care establishments including nurseries and play groups; Undertakers; Churches and religious meeting halls; Coin operated wet and dry cleaning; Animal accommodation, including kennels, catteries and stables; Zoos.
